Things to Read - Kids' Books

I'm sort of a bookworm (to put it mildly) and the kids seem to be following in my footsteps. Here's a list of some books we've really enjoyed lately. (Plus, I'm excited to try out this nifty new linking tool, just click on the picture and it takes you right to amazon).

My three year old daughter loves this book, it's really simple (best for small children) and VERY repititive, so she can remember all the words. She likes to "read" it to us (over and over again).



This may be the first book we've read where I've actually been entertained and learned something entirely new. I can now name (AND PRONOUNCE) seven dinosaurs. I feel smart.



This is the perfect "i don't feel like reading a book" book. It's short, with a simple plot, (the journey of a toy train and a real train), singsong writing, and beautiful illustrations. Plus it only takes a few minutes (at most) to read.



Both my girls are princess obsessed and I'm SO SO sick of how they've adopted (at a young age) this victim mentality. "Will a prince rescue me, mom?" "Rescue you from what?" I say. So, finally, a book where the princess saves the prince. I wish Disney would make it into a movie.



This is a classic book about the effects of time on a little house. I likes that it teaches children about change and seasons. Plus it has a happy ending, though it always makes me tear up a little.



This is hand's down the best children's book every written. EVER.



very catchy. i could read it over and over (and I have). For awhile, this is the only book that P would read.



I remember reading this when I was a kid and marveling at the balloon swimming pool. It's great to watch my children love the same book I love.
